Itinerary

Day 1. Welcome to St. Petersburg

  • Included meals: No

Arrive at St. Petersburg airport or train station and be transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore local surroundings. Overnight in St. Petersburg.

Day 2. St. Petersburg panoramic city tour

  • Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Panoramic city tour. We start the day with a tour of the city where your guide will show you Nevsky Prospect, St. Isaac Square, Palace Square, the Spit of St Basil Island and other landmarks of the historic centre.

Saint Alexander Nevsky Lavra Monastery. Walk around the territory and visit the historic Tikhvin cemetery with the graves of Dostoevsky, Tchaikovsky and other great artists and musicians.

Peter & Paul Fortress. After lunch, we continue to Peter & Paul Fortress, the cradle of St. Petersburg. You’ll visit the Cathedral, the final resting place of Peter the Great along with many of his descendants. >

Boat trip: summer season, optional.

Day 3. Tsarskoe Selo: Catherine Palace and Alexander Palace

  • Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Tsarskoe Selo. This morning we drive to Tsarskoe Selo where we visit two magnificent palaces of the Russian Royal family. The favorite residence of Catherine the Great, the Baroque Catherine Palace is known for its wonderful Amber Room. The Neoclassical Alexander Palace was the home of Nicholas II, his wife Alexandra and their children. Between visiting the palaces, you will have a chance to enjoy a scenic walk around the Catherine Park and see its ponds, alleys and pavilions.

Lunch is included.

Day 4. Art museums and the Church on the Spilled Blood

  • Included meals: Breakfast

Russian Museum. Our first visit this day, the home to exceptional collections of Russian art, including icons of the 12th–17th centuries.

Church on the Spilled Blood. Built in the Russian Revival style, the cathedral features lavish interior and exterior design, including remarkable mosaics and frescoes.

Faberge Museum is also among the highlights of the day. Its collection features nine authentic Faberge Easter eggs, icons, Objets de Fantaisie, silver and enamel items.

Overnight in St. Petersburg.

Day 5. Petergof Park and Gardens

  • Included meals: Breakfast

Petergof. This morning we travel to the charming royal residence of Petergof, where we’ll walk around the Lower Park, enjoy the view of fountains (operational from May till September) and visit the Grand Palace.

Return to the city centre by car or by hydrofoil boat (in summer) and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Theatre: optional.

Overnight in St. Petersburg.

Day 6. The Hermitage

  • Included meals: Breakfast

Hermitage Museum. This day is devoted to this grand museum, which holds one of the world’s biggest collections of art and antiquities. The guided tour includes staterooms of the Winter Palace, the Small, Old & New Hermitage with artworks of Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Caravaggio and Rembrandt.

Upon request, a visit to the Gold Room Treasury with unique golden items made by Scythians and Greeks in the VI-IV centuries B.C. can be arranged on an extra fee.

General Staff building. A short walk away, you’ll see the important collection of French Impressionists.

Overnight in St. Petersburg.

Day 7. Goodbye Saint Petersburg

  • Included meals: Breakfast

Morning at leisure.

Transfer to the airport or train station in time for your plane or train.

Due to fluctuations in accommodation prices supplements may apply to above prices. Price per person is based on 2/3 adults sharing a room. Max occupancy per room is 3 persons (excluding infants).

Payment: from 30% to 50% advance payment; final payment in cash in Russia.

What kind of vehicles do you use?

We use comfortable vans like Mercedes Vito and Mercedes Viano. For smaller groups we use suitably sized cars, such as Skoda Octavia and Kia Sorento. For bigger groups we hire Mercedes Sprinter buses and 29 – 49 seat coaches.
First class vehicles like Mercedes S-class are available on request.
